Description

‘Keep the Home Fire’s Burning’ will have something for everyone. It will showcase a variety of popular music from the WW1 period which you can sing along to and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of women being granted the vote.
The choir is once again proud and privileged to be joined by Karen England, international singing star and Opera Babe who will sing favourites from the era. By contrast, a more contemporary piece will be performed, ‘The Armed Man’, a Mass by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, subtitled “A Mass for Peace”. This mass was commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum for the Millennium celebrations, to mark the museum’s move from London to Leeds, and it was dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis. This will be the choir’s second performance of this very moving piece.

Friday April 27th & Saturday April 28th. Concerts start at 7:30. Ticket price is £10, children under 16 £5. Limited parking on site and public carpark opposite.

Tickets are also available to purchase from Forteys in Melbourne Market Place, or from Choir Members.
